Dear FTHP Family,
The present Covid-19 pandemic has brought many changes to our effort to bring attention and serve the homeless community in Atlanta. As you know, we’ve had to stop all feeding activity based on mandates from Mayor Bottoms however we’ve since channeled our financial support two groups, Bigmouth Ben and Lady T, who continue to provide meals to our friends albeit in a much more limited fashion. We will continue to support them until we are able to restart our feeding efforts which at present looks to be a month or more away.
In the meantime, I’d like to make everyone aware of another organization, Partners for Home/Atlanta Continuum of Care (Atl CoC). This group has been coordinating efforts to support the homeless population in Atlanta thru coordinated efforts with Proof of the Pudding. At present they are providing 1200 meals per day. This organization offers an opportunity for you individually to continue to serve if that is something in your hearts. This is not an FTHP function but rather the coordinated efforts by Atl CoC. They are looking for teams of two (2) to help pass out food each day around 10 am from their distribution center at Proof of the Pudding. You will want to contact Chelsea Arkin directly at 404.507.6389 or carkin@partnersforhome.org for details.
Additionally, on our last call with Atl CoC and direct communication from Lady T, the need for bottled water has been identified. Again, if that is something you can assist with, simply contact Chelsea to coordinate that effort. FTHP remains committed to our mission and looks forward to getting back on the streets as soon as it is safely possible.
As soon as it is determined that it is once again safe to gather, we WILL be back on the streets. Unfortunately, it is impossible to predict when that will be. In the meantime, I hope you and your families are safe and well. Watch our website, www.fthpinc.org for pictures and updates. Thank you for your ongoing support to FTHP and those in need.
